Faith Formation
"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, We are spiritual beings
having a human experience."—Pierre Teilhard De Chardin
Phenomenon of Man.
Ascension offers classes for adults, teens, younger children, and infants and toddlers.
Small group settings provide the perfect environment for exploring the richness of faith,
nurturing the spirit, and sharing the joy of a life in Christ. Sunday worship at Ascension
United Church of Christ begins at nine o’clock with a continental breakfast for all.
Our Minister of Music, Nancy Chronister, leads the children in choir rehearsal from
nine-fifteen to ten o’clock. Faith Formation classes begin at ten (ten-fifteen for the
preschool program "Mommy, Daddy and Me") leading to the worship service at eleven.
Mommy, Daddy and Me
Mommy, Daddy and Me gives infants and toddlers a head start on their spiritual journey.
Parents are welcome to join their children in the nursery for songs and listen to stories.
Taught by Kristin Ladd.
Classes for Younger Children
Ascension offers two classes for younger children: one for 4 to 6-year-olds and one for 7
to 12-year-olds. The curriculum for these two classes is based on "The Way of the Child"
(Companions in Christ). We help the children develop and intimate, personal relationship with God,
providing an opportunity for them to experience and practice spiritual disciplines that will
nurture the relationship for a lifetime. Taught by Pastor Dwayne Mosier and Consistory President
Robin Weed.
For Younger Adults
Our young adult class is as appropriate for young teens who are firm in their faith as it is
for those who still seek to define their relationship with God. The class offers students
from grades eight through twelve the opportunity to explore what it means to walk in the
way of Christ. Students take time each week to notice the presence of God in their lives.
They are encouraged to see their lives as a purposeful journey. Teachers use focused readings
from the Old and New Testaments to involve students in discussing how the spiritual journeys
we find in the Bible are echoed in the experiences of our own lives today.
Taught by Tom Kraemer and Kelly Wagner.
Faith Formation for Adults
Grown ups need a place where they can discuss spiritual matters as much as anyone else.
Adults gather every week before morning worship to share and learn from one another.
The voices you will hear around Ascension's table are intelligent and heart-felt.
This has become a place where new friendships are formed and old truths are re-affirmed.
Taught by Liz Brunton.
